G&W Portfolio Feature: Goodword, Caroline Dell and Chris Fischer

Goodword: your relationship copilot to unlock opportunities hiding in plain sight

The right connection changes everything. This is especially true, and increasingly missing, in today’s world of endless digital noise and shallow online relationships.

That’s why we are thrilled to announce Goodword, G&W’s newest portfolio company. Goodword emerged from stealth this week under the leadership of Caroline Dell and Chris Fischer.

Goodword is a smart networking copilot to turn authentic human connections into real opportunities. By blending technology with human intuition, Goodword will help users stay top of mind, make meaningful introductions, and uncover opportunities that might have otherwise been missed. The product is in closed Beta–you can sign up for the waitlist here.

Why We Invested

Goodword hits a thesis we’re paying attention to: we see a new wave of social software coming to disrupt the internet as we know it. The new leaders will give creators more control, prioritize authenticity over engagement farming, and help people compound real-world connections beyond just chasing likes. When it comes to professional opportunities, what really matters is knowing the right person, making the right impression, and reaching out at the right time. Goodword’s data flywheel promises a smarter, more human layer that lets relationships accrue value over time.

An opportunity is only great if its in the hands of the right team, and Caroline and Chris personify the grit, audacity, maturity and execution prowess we look for in our investments. When we first sat down with them earlier this year, the conversation felt less like a pitch and more like a masterclass in thoughtful network-building.

Caroline’s track record powering Chief from a 200-person experiment to a $100 M-ARR unicorn, and engineering LOLA’s early operating backbone showed a rare ability to scale organizations without losing soul. Chris’ technical leadership was a standout – from propeling Shutterstock through its multibillion-dollar IPO to architecting data-rich consumer platforms at Reonomy and Aaptiv, he’s honed the muscle of turning messy datasets into elegant, user-centric products.

Together, they’re tackling an age-old pain point with an AI twist: how professionals actually unlock value from their networks.

In short, it’s substance over hype, and that suits us perfectly.

In Caroline’s Words: Why Goodword Matters

Caroline and Chris believe the future belongs to those who can build and nurture real relationships, not just collect contacts. “We’re turning networking from everyone’s least favorite professional task into their most powerful asset,” Caroline shared.

In a world where information moves faster than ever, it’s human connection that creates lasting opportunity. “When people can easily tap into their relationships, we all get access to better opportunities and more meaningful collaboration,” she said.

Goodword is their answer to a broken system and a way to turn the invisible threads of trust and goodwill into tangible progress.

“Every major opportunity in our careers came from a connection, but we kept losing touch with amazing people and missing chances to help others. We built Goodword because relationships are everything, but the tools for managing them are completely broken.”

We’re thrilled to join Caroline and Chris as they reimagine how ambitious people find, trust, and help one another in the decade ahead.
